Worked out from the boundaries (smallest container first). They follow whole communes, so a neighbour sharing a commune can show up here too.

Boundary drawn from whole communes, so it is a little larger than the legal zone. Boundary: Eurac Research PDO inventory (CC0). Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Showing every colour The colour filter changes the rules and grapes. Climate, vintages and soils describe the vineyards, so they stay the same.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

Still to check (3)
  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Bikavér blends need at least four varieties above 5 % each with Kékfrankos the largest; csillag blends need at least four varieties above 5 % with none over 50 %. Grape yields shown are for hand harvesting (mechanical: 13.1, 7.8 and 5.6 t/ha for Classic, Superior and Grand superior). Minimum potential alcohol shown is the lowest variety group (e.g. 12.08 % for Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot noir and Syrah in Classicus bikavér and vörös; 10.57-10.60 % for other white varieties). Sweetening is prohibited for Classicus bikavér, Classicus csillag and all Superior and Grand superior wines; oak chips, reverse osmosis and partial dealcoholisation are prohibited for Superior late-harvest and Grand superior csillag. Superior and Grand superior wines come only from Class I or II/1 land; density 3,700 vines/ha (4,000 for Superior and Grand superior) for vineyards planted after 1 August 2010. 48 varieties are listed. From the older national technical file (AM02): must weights are the lowest variety group (Classicus reds and rosés 17 °MM, 19 °MM for Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot noir and Syrah; Classicus whites 16 °MM, 17 and 19 °MM for other groups; Superior and Grand superior 20 °MM for all varieties). That text also required bottle ageing before release (6 months for Superior and Grand superior bikavér and Grand superior vörös, 3 months for Superior csillag, late-harvest and Grand superior fehér and csillag), 16 months in wood for Grand superior bikavér and vörös, and bottling of Superior csillag and late-harvest from 1 February after the harvest; the current single document no longer states these, so they are not recorded.
