Worked out from the boundaries (smallest container first). They follow whole communes, so a neighbour sharing a commune can show up here too.

Boundary drawn from whole communes, so it is a little larger than the legal zone. Boundary: Eurac Research PDO inventory (CC0). Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Showing every colour The colour filter changes the rules and grapes. Climate, vintages and soils describe the vineyards, so they stay the same.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Yields: preferred varieties 12,500 kg/ha (90 hl/ha), other varieties 15,000 kg/ha (108 hl/ha); plain white, red and rosé wines are not given one figure. The 72 % extraction limit is worded for must. 'Producción controlada', Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva wines need 12.5 % actual alcohol; no ageing periods are given. Sparkling and Tostado acidity is stated only as a unit (milliequivalents per litre) without a value. Wines must be bottled in the demarcated area. Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva (white or red) follow the general national ageing rules, which the specification does not restate; ageing in barrel is counted from 1 December of the harvest year. The national technical file gives 'Tostado' raisining a minimum of 90 days, against 30 days recorded from the single document, and red acidity 4.5 g/l and a single yield of 12,000 kg/ha (86.40 hl/ha), against the single document's figures. Quality sparkling wine needs at least 85% Godello.
