Worked out from the boundaries (smallest container first). They follow whole communes, so a neighbour sharing a commune can show up here too.

Boundary drawn from whole communes, so it is a little larger than the legal zone. Boundary: Eurac Research PDO inventory (CC0). Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

Still to check (3)
  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Section 7 names only Garnacha Tinta as main variety, so it is given only for red and rosé wines; white varieties are not named. Press yield is 70 l/100 kg (74 l with mechanised harvesting). Yields depend on training and harvesting: gobelet 7,150 kg/ha and 50 hl/ha (53 mechanised), trellis 12,850 kg/ha and 90 hl/ha (95 mechanised); Vino de Pueblo wines are lower (gobelet 5,720 kg/ha, 40/42 hl/ha; trellis 10,280 kg/ha, 72/76 hl/ha). Barrel-aged whites need at least 2 months in barrel; wines to be aged use oak barrels of at most 330 litres; red wines macerate at least 48 hours. No ageing periods are given for Crianza, Reserva or Gran Reserva. The technical file (Spanish) adds no ageing periods; it sets pressing below 2.5 kg/cm2, white musts fermenting below 20 °C and wines for ageing fermenting at no more than 30 °C.
  • National tier (DOC/DOCG) not captured yet; rules extracted from the specification text.
