Copernicus ERA5-Land monthly averages at 5 vineyard points (Vineyard point 1, 400 m; Vineyard point 2, 344 m; Vineyard point 3, 340 m; Vineyard point 4, 228 m; Vineyard point 5, 92 m), moved to each point's height from the model's terrain. Indices that need daily data are not captured yet. How the climate figures are made.

Lower confidence:Monthly reanalysis in complex terrain (height corrections up to 2.0 °C); absolute values may be several degrees out, year-to-year changes are more reliable.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

Still to check (3)
  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Yields vary with variety and density: main varieties 13,000 kg/ha white (93.60 hl/ha) and 12,000 red (86.40); secondary varieties (Palomino, Garnacha Tintorera, Tempranillo, no longer to be planted) 19,000 white and 18,000 red; lower limits below 3,000 vines/ha and higher ones above 7,000 vines/ha. Plain Ribeiro yields are therefore not recorded. 'Tostado' grapes are dried naturally for at least three months. Barrica wines are held in barrels of at most 600 l; sparkling wines are Brut or Brut Nature. Vines are trained on trellises or stakes. The main varieties are not named as such in the single document. The national technical file (2014) gives older figures that differ from the single document: minimum actual alcohol 9% vol for whites and reds, minimum acidity 5 g/l for reds, an extraction limit of 70 l per 100 kg, and 12,000 kg/ha and 48 hl/ha for all 'Tostado' wines; 'Tostado' must needs at least 300 g/l sugar and extraction is at most 40 l per 100 kg of raisined grapes; new plantings at most 7,000 vines/ha.
  • National tier (DOC/DOCG) not captured yet; rules extracted from the specification text.
