Worked out from the boundaries (smallest container first). They follow whole communes, so a neighbour sharing a commune can show up here too.

Boundary drawn from whole communes, so it is a little larger than the legal zone. Boundary: Eurac Research PDO inventory (CC0). Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Showing every colour The colour filter changes the rules and grapes. Climate, vintages and soils describe the vineyards, so they stay the same.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

Still to check (3)
  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Section 8 lists 20 varieties, including Tempranillo – Cencibel, Garnacha Tinta, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Airén, Macabeo – Viura and Verdejo. Yields depend on vine age and training (red vines over 40 years: 5,000 kg/ha and 35 hl/ha gobelet, 8,000 kg/ha and 56 hl/ha trellised; 15–40 years: 6,500/45.5 and 9,500/66.5; 6–15 years: 8,000/56 and 11,000/77; white varieties 8,000/56 gobelet and 11,000/77 trellised); red vines under six years old cannot be used. Minimum acidity for barrel-fermented/aged whites and sparkling wine (4,5) is given in milliequivalents per litre, so it is left null. Oak-aged young reds need at least two months in oak barrels of at most 600 litres; no ageing periods are given for Crianza or Reserva. The technical file (Spanish) adds no ageing periods; Crianza and Reserva reds macerate on skins for at least 7 days.
