Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

Still to check (9)
  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Specification covers aromatic quality sparkling wine (white or rosé, semi-sweet or sweet) only; sweetness is therefore not fixed: 32-50 g/l sugar for demisec, at least 50 g/l for dulce. Moscato Bianco may yield 14,000 kg/ha (140 q/ha). The yield limits in section I.8 are of must (90 hl/ha, 105 hl/ha for Moscato Bianco), not wine. Single fermentation of must under pressure to 6 bar; production lasts at least one month; bottling from 1 December. Production may also take place in the nearby towns of Ploieşti, Mizil and Buzău; sub-designations Valea Călugărească, Urlaţi and Tohani may be added. Maximum 30 buds per vine; vineyards planted after 2008 need 100 % varietal purity.
  • National tier (DOC/DOCG) not captured yet; rules extracted from the specification text.
  • Also covers PDO-RO-A1067, registered separately for some wine types under the same name; its wines are listed here.
  • From the specification: Specification covers semi-sparkling wine (vin petiant, 1-2.5 bar), white or rosé, in sec, demisec, demidulce and dulce versions (sugar up to 4, 12, 45 g/l and at least 45 g/l), so sweetness is not fixed. Grape colours per product are inferred from the white/red variety lists; rosé descriptions name Fetească Neagră, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Burgund Mare. Riesling Italian, Merlot, Viognier, Burgund Mare and Fetească Regală may yield 14,000 kg/ha and 100 hl/ha. Base wine needs at least 9 % vol total alcohol; up to 15 % must of another variety may be added. Bottling and release from 1 December; sub-designation Tohani may be added; maximum 30 buds per vine.
  • Also covers PDO-RO-A1079, registered separately for some wine types under the same name; its wines are listed here.
  • From the specification: Yields given are for grapes harvested at full maturity; late-harvest still wines are limited to 12,000 kg/ha (white 78 hl/ha) and noble-rot wines to 10,000 kg/ha (white 65 hl/ha); no hl/ha limit is given for still rosé/red wines. Rosé/red quality sparkling wines are limited to 12,000 kg/ha and 78 hl/ha, rosé/red aromatic sparkling wines to 12,000 kg/ha and 90 hl/ha. White and rosé wines not from Valea Călugărească have at least 5 g/l glucose + fructose. Semi-sparkling and aromatic sparkling vineyards need 3,300 vines/ha; plantings need 85 % varietal purity. Sub-designations Boldeşti, Valea Călugărească and Urlaţi and single-vineyard names may be added. From the national specification: rosé and red wine yields are recorded at the lowest limit (59 hl/ha for Muscat Ottonel, Tămâioasă românească, Busuioacă de Bohotin, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot noir, Fetească neagră and others; up to 91 hl/ha for Fetească regală, Syrah, Trebbiano). Late-harvest (C.T.) yields run from 8,000 kg/52 hl to 12,000 kg/78 hl and need 220 g/l sugar for whites, 213 g/l for reds; noble-rot (C.I.B.) wines 7,000 kg/46 hl and 240 g/l. Enrichment up to 1.5 % vol only with must or concentrated must from the area or rectified concentrated must. Rezervă needs 6 months in oak and/or 6 in bottle, Vin de vinotecă one year in oak and/or 4 years in bottle; the shorter alternative is recorded as total ageing.
  • Also covers PDO-RO-A1336, registered separately for some wine types under the same name; its wines are listed here.
  • From the specification: Specification covers quality sparkling wine (white, rosé or red) by the traditional method, sweetness from brut nature to dulce. Yields by variety (lowest kept): 10,000 kg/ha and 65 hl/ha for Pinot Noir, Traminer Roz, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Fetească Albă, Riesling de Rhin and Sauvignon; 12,000 kg/ha and 78 hl/ha for Riesling Italian, Merlot, Viognier and Burgund Mare; 14,000 kg/ha and 91 hl/ha for Fetească Regală. Nine months on lees is the condition for the 'fermentat în sticlă prin metoda tradiţională' indication. Grapes must come 100 % from the area, but production may also take place in nearby Ploieşti, Azuga, Mizil and Buzău. Eight sub-designations (Boldeşti, Valea Călugărească, Urlaţi, Ceptura, Tohani, Breaza, Merei, Zoreşti) and named plai may be added.
