Worked out from the boundaries (smallest container first). They follow whole communes, so a neighbour sharing a commune can show up here too.

Boundary drawn from whole communes, so it is a little larger than the legal zone. Boundary: Eurac Research PDO inventory (CC0). Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Showing every colour The colour filter changes the rules and grapes. Climate, vintages and soils describe the vineyards, so they stay the same.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

Still to check (3)
  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Wine yields (hl/ha) are of new wine on its lees (seprős újbor). Káli Királyi wines need at least one year's ageing (egyéves érlelés) and the Főbor at least two years (kétéves); Királyi rosé and red must blend wines of at least two varieties. Főbor must be hand-harvested and is described as sweet (residual sugar mostly fructose). Káli bor white allows a long list of varieties (Budai, Bakator, Juhfark, Cserszegi fűszeres, Chardonnay, Furmint, Hárslevelű, Kéknyelű, Olaszrizling, Riesling and others); Káli bor rosé and red: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Kékfrankos, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Kékoportó, Kadarka, Zweigelt, Syrah; Királyi white and Főbor: Chardonnay, Furmint, Juhfark, Kéknyelű, Olaszrizling, Sárga muskotály, Szürkebarát, Tramini, Zenit, Zeus, Zöld veltelini. High training (trunk 120 cm or more) is banned and density of at least 4,000 vines/ha applies to vineyards planted after 31 July 2009. The Áldozó and Táltoshegy vineyard names need yields of at most 45 hl/ha.
