Worked out from the boundaries (smallest container first). They follow whole communes, so a neighbour sharing a commune can show up here too.

Boundary drawn from whole communes, so it is a little larger than the legal zone. Boundary: Eurac Research PDO inventory (CC0). Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

Still to check (3)
  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Products follow the specification's five categories (wine, sparkling wine, quality sparkling wine, aromatic quality sparkling wine, semi-sparkling wine with added CO2) by colour; the 'termelői' (producer) sparkling types must stay at least twelve months on the lees in the cuvée's own winery and are disgorged. The lees period is from the 2011 product specification; the register also lists a 2019 publication (Ares(2018)313636) not held here. For the producer sparkling types the table puts 11.5 % vol in the minimum actual strength column, above their 10.0 % total minimum, so actual strength is left null pending a check of the column order. Yields: 100 hl/ha new wine on lees, 14 t/ha hand-harvested or 13.5 t/ha machine-harvested; vineyard-named still wines 11 t/ha hand, 10.5 t/ha machine (80 hl/ha) and need 95 % of grapes from the vineyard. Total acidity 4.6–10.0 g/l; pressure min. 3.0 bar (3.5 for quality/producer types), 1–2.5 bar for semi-sparkling. Selected-harvest, late-harvest, raisined-grape and ice wines must be hand-picked and may not be sweetened. Density and training rules apply to vineyards planted after 1 August 2010. Production is also allowed in Zala, Veszprém, Fejér, Tolna and Baranya counties.
