Boundary drawn from whole communes, so it is a little larger than the legal zone. Boundary: Eurac Research PDO inventory (CC0). Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

Still to check (3)
  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Minimum natural sugar of the grapes is 151.5 g/l (9.0 % vol potential alcohol). Main varieties include Zweigelt, Grüner Veltliner, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Furmint, Kékfrankos, Kadarka, Hárslevelű, Cserszegi fűszeres, Chardonnay, Olasz rizling, Merlot, Rizlingszilváni, Riesling and Pinot Noir. Training systems and density apply to vineyards planted after 1 August 2009. Enrichment and sweetening are prohibited for late-harvest (késői szüretelésű), selected-harvest (válogatott szüretelésű) and shrivelled-grape (töppedt szőlőből készült) wines; grapes must be processed on the day of harvest with batch presses only. The 9 % vol minimum is printed against 'Minimális teljes alkoholtartalom (tömegszázalék)', the Hungarian rendering of the register's minimum actual alcoholic strength field, so it is recorded as actual alcohol.
