Worked out from the boundaries (smallest container first). Uses the delimited parcels where INAO publishes them.

The delimited vineyard parcels themselves, so the shape is patchy: only land within them may grow the wine. Boundary: INAO parcel delimitation (Licence Ouverte); nearby parcels drawn as one block, with less detail for larger appellations. Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Showing every colour The colour filter changes the rules and grapes. Climate, vintages and soils describe the vineyards, so they stay the same.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

Still to check (3)
  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Residual sugar must be at most 3 g/l for wines with natural alcohol up to 13.5% and at most 4 g/l above that. Syrah must be at least 85% of the farm's plantings and of the red blend, with white grapes co-fermented; marsanne and roussanne may also be Guyot-pruned (8 buds plus a 2-bud spur). Irrigated plots are limited to 6000 kg/ha, and older vineyards with 2.50-2.75 m row spacing to 6000 kg/ha and 40 hl/ha (yield and cap); total production limit 63 hl/ha; red wines need at most 0.4 g/l malic acid at bottling; wood chips and continuous presses are banned. The appellation may also be written 'Crozes-Ermitage'.
