Worked out from the boundaries (smallest container first). They follow whole communes, so a neighbour sharing a commune can show up here too.

Boundary drawn from whole communes, so it is a little larger than the legal zone. Boundary: Eurac Research PDO inventory (CC0). Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Showing every colour The colour filter changes the rules and grapes. Climate, vintages and soils describe the vineyards, so they stay the same.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Bulgarian traditional category: guaranteed designation of origin (GNP). Oak-barrel ageing is permitted, and the traditional terms Novo, Premium oak / first fill barrel, Reserva, Special reserve, Special selection, Collection and Rozentaler may be used, but the specification gives them no ageing periods. Sugar may be up to 4 g/l, or up to 9 g/l when total acidity is no more than 2 g/l below residual sugar (recorded as the 9 g/l maximum); the limit of 9,000 kg/ha applies to all wines; the wine yield is litres per 100 kg of grapes. Training: umbrella, Moser, Guyot, mid-height bilateral cordon; mixed and short pruning with up to 54 buds per vine; rows 2.0–3.4 m and vines 1.0–1.5 m apart, at most 500 vines per decare (5,000 per ha), no minimum density stated. Wines from Pamid have their own lower limits, so they are recorded as a separate red product.
  • National tier (DOC/DOCG) not captured yet; rules extracted from the specification text.
