From the specification: Frizzante grapes may have natural potential alcohol 0.5% vol below the base type (left null); minimums may drop 0.5% vol in poor vintages. Passito grapes are dried on the vine, on racks or by forced air. Spumante sweetness ranges from extra brut to dry. Vinification is also allowed in the province of Catanzaro. Varietal wines may be made in the frizzante, passito, novello and spumante types and meet their colour's limits.
