Worked out from the boundaries (smallest container first). They follow whole communes, so a neighbour sharing a commune can show up here too.

Boundary drawn from whole communes, so it is a little larger than the legal zone. Boundary: Eurac Research PDO inventory (CC0). Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Showing every colour The colour filter changes the rules and grapes. Climate, vintages and soils describe the vineyards, so they stay the same.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Main varieties (section 7): 19, including kékoportó, kadarka, rajnai rizling, cabernet franc, zweigelt, sauvignon, merlot, kövidinka. Siller wines appear in the grape-quality and yield rules but have no description in section 4. Ice-wine grapes must be harvested below -7 °C and pressed frozen; late-harvest and ice wines may not be enriched or sweetened, premium wines not sweetened. Bud load is at most 12 buds per square metre; rows 1.00–3.60 m and vines 0.60–1.20 m apart for vineyards planted after 1 January 2012. The 2014 national technical file gives 16.4 MM (with 9.0 % vol) for wine and sparkling wine; it states no must weights for late-harvest, premium or ice wines.
