From the specification: White varieties: Athiri, Muscat of Alexandria, Assyrtiko, Roditis, Zoumiatiko, Malagousia, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Ugni blanc; red: Pamidi, Limnio, Mavroudi, Syrah, Merlot, Grenache rouge, Cabernet Sauvignon; rosé adds Roditis to the red list. Zone is the former municipality of Avdira (Xanthi) up to 300 m. White and rosé ferment at no more than 20 °C; sweetening permitted for off-dry and medium wines; wine may be made in wineries in neighbouring prefectures. Sugar maxima carry footnotes referring to EU labelling rules.
