Worked out from the boundaries (smallest container first). Uses the delimited parcels where INAO publishes them.

The delimited vineyard parcels themselves, so the shape is patchy: only land within them may grow the wine. Boundary: INAO parcel delimitation (Licence Ouverte); nearby parcels drawn as one block, with less detail for larger appellations. Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

Still to check (3)
  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Shared cahier des charges for all 51 Alsace grand cru appellations. White wines come from a single variety (gewurztraminer, muscat, pinot gris, riesling) or a blend of the muscats; ripeness and alcohol limits differ by variety: minimum 195 g/l and 12.5% natural alcohol for gewurztraminer and pinot gris (170 g/l, 11% for other varieties, as recorded), and maximum total alcohol after enrichment 15% for gewurztraminer and pinot gris but 14% for riesling and muscat. Vendanges tardives (not a separate register name) need 270 g/l and 16% for gewurztraminer and pinot gris (244 g/l, 14.5% for riesling and muscat, as recorded); sélection de grains nobles need 306 g/l and 18.2% for gewurztraminer and pinot gris (276 g/l, 16.4% as recorded). Vendanges tardives and sélection de grains nobles wines may not be enriched, may only use the four noble varieties, and young vines qualify only from the 9th year. Grapes must be hand-picked; maximum 18 buds per vine for whites, 14 for reds; rows at most 2 m apart; wood chips, continuous presses and centrifugal pumps are banned; wines must be bottled in 'Vin du Rhin' (flûte) bottles. Total production may not exceed 77 hl/ha. This grand cru is reserved for still white wines. Minimum planting density is 4500 vines/ha for whites. Ageing (élevage) runs at least until the earliest release date; enrichment is limited to +0.5% vol. for gewurztraminer and pinot gris and +1.5% vol. for other varieties.
