Worked out from the boundaries (smallest container first). They follow whole communes, so a neighbour sharing a commune can show up here too.

Boundary drawn from whole communes, so it is a little larger than the legal zone. Boundary: Eurac Research PDO inventory (CC0). Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Showing every colour The colour filter changes the rules and grapes. Climate, vintages and soils describe the vineyards, so they stay the same.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

Still to check (3)
  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: The document sets no minimum alcohol, acidity or sugar limits; wines made without enrichment may exceed 15 % total alcohol. Wines carrying a single-vineyard or smaller-unit name must be at least 85 % Weißer Riesling and/or Blauer Spätburgunder (Saar, Ruwertal, Bernkastel and Burg Cochem districts) or Chardonnay, Ruländer, Weißer Burgunder and/or Blauer Spätburgunder (Moseltor and Obermosel), and cannot be rosé, Weißherbst, Blanc de Noir or Rotling. The national product specification (Rheinland-Pfalz figures) sets must weights by variety; the lowest is recorded per product. Others: Qualitätswein Müller-Thurgau 58 °Oe, other varieties 60 °Oe, Dornfelder 68 °Oe; Kabinett 73 °Oe for varieties other than Elbling; Spätlese 85 °Oe and Auslese 93 °Oe for other white varieties (reds 80 and 88 °Oe); Sekt 57 °Oe for varieties other than Elbling and Riesling. Rotling must weight is left open because it depends on the varieties blended. The minimum actual strength of 5.5 % vol is written for 'Beerenauslese etc.' and recorded for Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein. Prädikatswein may not be enriched; Sekt made by bottle fermentation must spend at least 9 months in bottle.
  • National tier (DOC/DOCG) not captured yet; rules extracted from the specification text.
