Worked out from the boundaries (smallest container first). They follow whole communes, so a neighbour sharing a commune can show up here too.

Boundary drawn from whole communes, so it is a little larger than the legal zone. Boundary: Eurac Research PDO inventory (CC0). Country outlines: Natural Earth. Dots on the zone map are the vineyard points used for climate.

Showing every colour The colour filter changes the rules and grapes. Climate, vintages and soils describe the vineyards, so they stay the same.

Seasons are labelled by harvest year (April–October). Year-to-year changes from ERA5-Land; tested against station records in Alto Adige (r = 0.94 for season temperature at Bolzano). Rain varies more locally, so treat single-season rain with some caution. Vintage ratings, harvest dates and frost or hail events have places in the data model but are not loaded yet.

Still to check (3)
  • Generated from EU reference data: check against the current product specification.
  • From the specification: Maximum yields are 3-year averages set per variety, not per wine: 65 hl/ha for most white and red varieties, 55 hl/ha for Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, 75 hl/ha for rosé, 80 hl/ha for Acolon, Auxerrois, Dornfelder, Souvignier Gris and Zweigelt. The prose sets minimum actual strength at 10 % vol but the analytical table gives 9; the maximum total strength of 13 % vol applies after enrichment. Deacidification is limited to 1 g/l; vinification may also take place in the immediate vicinity with prior authorisation. Varieties include Acolon, Auxerrois, Cabernet Cortis, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Solaris. The 2011 national product specification gives lower minima (natural 8 % vol, actual 8.5 % vol, total acidity 3.5 g/l), a 13.5 % vol maximum after enrichment and yields of 65 hl/ha (80 hl/ha for Müller-Thurgau, Kerner, Auxerrois and Dornfelder); the single document's values are kept.
